Bills vs. Eagles Inactives

The Eagles will have seven players inactive for today's showdown with the Buffalo Bills.

TE Grant Calcaterra: The tight end suffered an ankle injury last week against the Chiefs. He will miss his second game of the season.

TE Dallas Goedert: The veteran playmaker is still recovering from a fractured forearm suffered in Week 9.

OT Lane Johnson: The tackle will not play after being added to the injury report with groin tightness earlier today. Johnson underwent an MRI and warmed up before the game, but he is not healthy enough to play.

QB Tanner McKee (3rd QB): The rookie will serve as the emergency quarterback and can only play if Jalen Hurts and Marcus Mariota get injured.

RB Rashaad Penny: The running back is once again inactive.

CB Josiah Scott: After being featured in the last four games, Scott is inactive.

DT Milton Williams: The defensive tackle is sidelined with a concussion.

Tight ends Grant Calcaterra (ankle) and Dallas Goedert (forearm), along with defensive tackle Milton Williams (concussion), did not practice this week and are all out with injuries.

Wide receivers A.J. Brown (thigh), Julio Jones (knee), and DeVonta Smith (knee) all hit the injury report this week. They have no game status designations and will play. Running back D'Andre Swift was a full participant in practice on Friday after being limited earlier in the week; he will also play.

The Eagles elevated tight end Noah Togiai and linebacker Ben VanSumeren from the practice squad for today's game. Togiai was signed to the practice squad on November 14 and will play for the first time this season. VanSumeren will make his third straight appearance.

Wide receiver Quez Watkins was activated off the Injured Reserve list yesterday after missing the last five games with a hamstring injury. The fourth-year pro came into the game questionable to play.

For the Bills, starting cornerback Dane Jackson (concussion) and reserve safety Taylor Rapp (neck) are out with their respective injuries.

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) announcement is expected this week, fans eagerly await.

Get ready to rev your engines and polish your virtual pistols, because Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) is on the horizon, and fans can barely contain their excitement. After a decade-long wait, Rockstar Games, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., is gearing up to make the long-awaited announcement, potentially as soon as this week, according to a report by Bloomberg. This highly anticipated release follows the monumental success of its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V), which hit the gaming scene back in 2013 and has since sold over 185 million copies. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Rockstar Games is expected to drop the trailer for GTA VI in December, sending waves of anticipation through the gaming community.
GTA V, a multi-platform sensation, allowed players to explore an open world where they could drive, fly, and sail while engaging in various missions, heists, and business dealings. Despite its immense popularity, the game faced challenges within its online community, including issues with hackers disrupting gameplay for others. In response to concerns about potentially offensive jokes found in previous games, Rockstar Games has reportedly opted for milder language, sparking debates among fans about the balance between humour and gameplay violence
The game's development journey has been marked by delays, including interruptions caused by Rockstar Games' efforts to address corporate culture issues and work-life balance within the development team. Additionally, the studio faced a setback when hackers infiltrated their network, leaking early development footage for GTA VI. One fan exclaimed, "GTA 6 release date + Trailer dropping (soon.) I can’t believe my eyes; this is really happening!" Baldur’s Gate 3: New Achievement Leak Hints at Hardcore 'Honour Mode' and an Unlikely Ally"

Baldur’s Gate 3, the highly anticipated role-playing video game, might soon introduce an extremely challenging difficulty mode known as 'Honour mode,' as revealed by a recent achievement leak discovered by vigilant players. Additionally, a surprising addition to the game's roster of allies has caught the attention of adventurers. Let's delve into these exciting developments in the world of Baldur's Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3's Current Difficulty Modes: Baldur’s Gate 3 currently offers three difficulty modes to cater to a wide range of players. These modes include Explorer, Normal, and Tactician, each designed to provide a unique gaming experience. Explorer is the ideal choice for newcomers and those less familiar with D&D 5E rules, Normal offers a traditional D&D experience, and Tactician challenges players to use their resources strategically. However, one notable absence is the lack of an Ironman mode, which allows players to have only a single save file.

A Glimpse into 'Honour Mode': A recent discovery on the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Reddit hints at the potential addition of 'Honour mode' to the game. An achievement named "Foehammer" has appeared in the GoG version of the game, unlocked by completing 'Honour mode.' Fans of Larian Studios' previous title, Divinity: Original Sin II, may recall 'Honour mode' as a challenging Ironman mode where players had only one save file. Any game over resulted in the deletion of that save file. 'Honour mode' was an option regardless of the difficulty setting, making it a formidable challenge.

Why 'Honour Mode' is Long Overdue: The addition of an Ironman mode in Baldur’s Gate 3 seems to be long overdue, considering the game's reliance on dice rolls to resolve various situations. Locking players into a single save file and making their fate dependent on dice rolls is an excellent way to recreate the D&D 5E experience in the game, adding an extra layer of challenge for seasoned adventurers.

The Unexpected Power of the Strange Ox: In addition to the core members of your party, Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to gather allies to assist you in the final battle, characters you've encountered throughout your three-act journey. These NPCs offer unique combat skills to aid you when it matters most. Among these allies, one stands out as an unlikely powerhouse – the Strange Ox.

The Strength of the Strange Ox: One Baldur’s Gate 3 player on the r/BaldursGate3 subreddit initiated a discussion about the game's strongest ally for the final battle. Among the powerful casters, fighters, and monsters, the Strange Ox emerged as a significant asset, boasting an impressive 300HP, the ability to transform into a Minotaur, and formidable combat skills. Some players even claim that this unique ally can almost take on the final battle's dragon single-handedly, making it an unexpected game-changer.

Conclusion: Baldur’s Gate 3 players can anticipate a challenging new 'Honour mode' that follows in the footsteps of Divinity: Original Sin II's Ironman mode. This addition will bring an extra layer of difficulty and excitement to the game, aligning more closely with the D&D 5E experience. Additionally, the unexpected power of the Strange Ox in the final battle adds a surprising twist to the game, making it a must-have ally for players seeking an edge in their adventures. Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to evolve, offering players new challenges and unexpected surprises along the way.

Trump Leads in 5 Critical States as Voters Blast Biden, Times/Siena Poll Finds

Voters in battleground states said they trusted Donald J. Trump over President Biden on the economy, foreign policy and immigration, as Mr. Biden’s multiracial base shows signs of fraying.

President Biden is trailing Donald J. Trump in five of the six most important battleground states one year before the 2024 election, suffering from enormous doubts about his age and deep dissatisfaction over his handling of the economy and a host of other issues, new polls by The New York Times and Siena College have found.

The results show Mr. Biden losing to Mr. Trump, his likeliest Republican rival, by margins of four to 10 percentage points among registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania. Mr. Biden is ahead only in Wisconsin, by two percentage points, the poll found.

Across the six battlegrounds — all of which Mr. Biden carried in 2020 — the president trails by an average of 48 to 44 percent.

Discontent pulsates throughout the Times/Siena poll, with a majority of voters saying Mr. Biden’s policies have personally hurt them. The survey also reveals the extent to which the multiracial and multigenerational coalition that elected Mr. Biden is fraying. Demographic groups that backed Mr. Biden by landslide margins in 2020 are now far more closely contested, as two-thirds of the electorate sees the country moving in the wrong direction.

Voters under 30 favor Mr. Biden by only a single percentage point, his lead among Hispanic voters is down to single digits and his advantage in urban areas is half of Mr. Trump’s edge in rural regions. And while women still favored Mr. Biden, men preferred Mr. Trump by twice as large a margin, reversing the gender advantage that had fueled so many Democratic gains in recent years.

Black voters — long a bulwark for Democrats and for Mr. Biden — are now registering 22 percent support in these states for Mr. Trump, a level unseen in presidential politics for a Republican in modern times.

Add it all together, and Mr. Trump leads by 10 points in Nevada, six in Georgia, five in Arizona, five in Michigan and four in Pennsylvania. Mr. Biden held a 2-point edge in Wisconsin.

In a remarkable sign of a gradual racial realignment between the two parties, the more diverse the swing state, the farther Mr. Biden was behind, and he led only in the whitest of the six.

Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump are both deeply — and similarly — unpopular, according to the poll. But voters who overwhelmingly said the nation was on the wrong track are taking out their frustrations on the president.

“The world is falling apart under Biden,” said Spencer Weiss, a 53-year-old electrical substation specialist in Bloomsburg, Pa., who supported Mr. Biden in 2020 but is now backing Mr. Trump, albeit with some reservations. “I would much rather see somebody that I feel can be a positive role-model leader for the country. But at least I think Trump has his wits about him.”

Mr. Biden still has a year to turn the situation around. Economic indicators are up even if voters do not agree with them. Mr. Trump remains polarizing. And Mr. Biden’s well-funded campaign will aim to shore up his demographic weak spots. The president’s advisers have repeatedly noted that Democrats successfully limited the party’s losses in 2022 despite Mr. Biden’s poor approval ratings at the time.

Still, the survey shows how Mr. Biden begins the next year at a deficit even though Mr. Trump has been indicted on criminal charges four times and faces trial in 2024. If the results in the poll were the same next November, Mr. Trump would be poised to win more than 300 Electoral College votes, far above the 270 needed to take the White House.

Another ominous sign for Democrats is that voters across all income levels felt that Mr. Biden’s policies had hurt them personally, while they credited Mr. Trump’s policies for helping them. The results were mirror opposites: Voters gave Mr. Trump a 17-point advantage for having helped them and Mr. Biden an 18-point disadvantage for having hurt them.

For Mr. Biden, who turns 81 later this month, being the oldest president in American history stands out as a glaring liability. An overwhelming 71 percent said he was “too old” to be an effective president — an opinion shared across every demographic and geographic group in the poll, including a remarkable 54 percent of Mr. Biden’s own supporters.

In contrast, only 19 percent of supporters of Mr. Trump, who is 77, viewed him as too old, and 39 percent of the electorate overall.

Concerns about the president’s advancing age and mental acuity — 62 percent also said Mr. Biden does not have the “mental sharpness” to be effective — are just the start of a sweeping set of Biden weaknesses in the survey results.

“I don’t think he’s the right guy to go toe to toe with these other world leaders that don’t respect him or fear him,” Travis Waterman, 33, said of Mr. Biden.Credit...Caitlin O'Hara for The New York Times

Voters, by a 59 percent to 37 percent margin, said they better trusted Mr. Trump over Mr. Biden on the economy, the largest gap of any issue. The preference for Mr. Trump on economic matters spanned the electorate, among both men and women, those with college degrees and those without them, every age range and every income level.

That result is especially problematic for Mr. Biden because nearly twice as many voters said economic issues would determine their 2024 vote compared with social issues, such as abortion or guns. And those economic voters favored Mr. Trump by a landslide 60 percent to 32 percent.

The findings come after Mr. Biden’s campaign has run millions of dollars in ads promoting his record, and as the president continues to tour the country to brag about the state of the economy. “Folks, Bidenomics is just another way of saying the American dream!” Mr. Biden declared on Wednesday on a trip to Minnesota.

Voters clearly disagree. Only 2 percent of voters said the economy was excellent.

Voters under 30 — a group that strongly voted for Mr. Biden in 2020 — said they trusted Mr. Trump more on the economy by an extraordinary 28 percentage-point margin after years of inflation and now high interest rates that have made mortgages far less affordable. Less than one percent of poll respondents under 30 rated the current economy as excellent, including zero poll respondents in that age group in three states: Arizona, Nevada and Wisconsin.

“I actually had high hopes for Biden,” said Jahmerry Henry, a 25-year-old who packages liquor in Albany, Ga. “You can’t be worse than Trump. But then as the years go by, things happen with inflation, the war going on in Ukraine, recently Israel and I guess our borders are not secure at all.”

Now Mr. Henry plans to back Mr. Trump.

“I don’t see anything that he has done to benefit us,” said Patricia Flores, 39, of Reno, Nev., who voted for Mr. Biden in 2020 but won’t support him again in 2024.

In 2020, Mr. Biden’s path to victory had been rebuilding the so-called blue wall in the Rust Belt states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, and then expanding the map in the diversifying Sun Belt states of Arizona and Georgia.

The poll shows that Mr. Biden is notably stronger in the industrial northern states than in the more diverse Sun Belt.

And his vulnerabilities stretch across an expansive set of issues.

Voters preferred Mr. Trump over Mr. Biden on immigration by 12 points, on national security by 12 points and on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by 11 points. And though a 58 percent majority supported more economic and military aid to Ukraine — which aligns with Mr. Biden’s policy — that did not seem to benefit the president on broader questions of fitness to handle foreign affairs.

“I don’t think he’s the right guy to go toe to toe with these other world leaders that don’t respect him or fear him,” said Travis Waterman, 33, who worked in home restoration in Phoenix. He voted for Mr. Biden in 2020 but sees him as “weak” now and prefers Mr. Trump.

The gender gap on national security was enormous. Men preferred Mr. Trump 62 percent to 33 percent; women preferred Mr. Biden 47 to 46 percent.

Mr. Biden’s strongest issue was abortion, where voters trusted him over Mr. Trump by nine percentage points. Mr. Biden also maintained the trust of voters by an even slimmer margin of three points over Mr. Trump on the more amorphous handling of “democracy.”

Mr. Biden has survived poor showings in polls before. In fact, in October 2022 in the run-up to the midterm elections, the president’s job approval rating was nearly the same as it is now. His party still managed to lose fewer seats than expected in the House and gained one seat in the Senate, in part by painting Republican candidates as extremists.

Today, the degree to which voters are turned off by Mr. Trump’s personality and bombast — which has been the glue helping keep together a fractious Democratic coalition for years — appears to have waned. Only 46 percent of voters said Mr. Biden had the proper temperament to be president, barely higher than the 43 percent who said the same of Mr. Trump. That said, Mr. Trump will be more in the spotlight in 2024, including his criminal trials, a growing presence that could remind voters why they were repelled by him in the first place.

The New York Times/Siena College polls of 3,662 registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin were conducted by telephone using live operators from Oct. 22 to Nov. 3, 2023. When all states are combined, the margin of sampling error is plus or minus 1.8 percentage points. The margin of sampling error for each state is between 4.4 and 4.8 percentage points. Cross-tabs and methodology are available here.

The Run-Up to the 2024 Election

Donald Trump

A lawsuit in Colorado is one of several across the country arguing that the former president is ineligible to hold office under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. Here is what to know about the case.

Allies of Trump are preparing to populate a new administration with a more aggressive breed of right-wing lawyer if he reclaims the White House, dispensing with traditional conservatives who they believe stymied his agenda in his first term.

President Biden

A coalition of young voters and people of color is breaking with the president over his support of Israel in its war with the Palestinians, raising new questions about his strength entering 2024.

Less engaged voters might be the single biggest problem facing Biden in his pursuit of re-election, Nate Cohn writes.

Other Candidates

Ron DeSantis: In an effort to energize his struggling campaign, the Florida governor has sought to exploit anti-vaccine sentiment among the population, while criticizing Trump-era Covid-19 policies.

Nikki Haley: The former South Carolina governor, who has been climbing in Republican presidential polls, met with the casino mogul and G.O.P. megadonor Miriam Adelson in Las Vegas.

Vivek Ramaswamy: A debate between the G.O.P. candidate and Representative Ro Khanna of California, a Democrat who is not running for president, was largely a showcase for Ramaswamy to try to rescue his flagging campaign.

Doug Burgum: The North Dakota governor knows that many people think he should quit his quixotic bid for the Republican nomination. Here is why he is staying in the race.

Antony Blinken tells Mahmoud Abbas that PA could play ‘central role’ in Gaza

US secretary of state Antony Blinken told the Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas that the US saw the PA as “playing a central role” in any post-Hamas government in Gaza, a US official said. The official was speaking after Blinken held talks with Abbas in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, during his second trip to the region since Israel declared war on Hamas, the Palestinian militant group. But Abbas said the PA would only assume power in Gaza, which Hamas has controlled since 2007, as part of a “comprehensive political solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, according to the Palestinians’ official Wafa news agency. Blinken’s Middle East tour, which has also involved meetings in Tel Aviv, Amman and Baghdad, came as the Arab world and some western capitals stepped up calls for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict. Both Israel and the US have rejected the calls. Abbas used the meeting with Blinken in Ramallah to call for an “immediate halt to the devastating Israeli war on Gaza” and to push for the “swift provision of humanitarian aid, including medical supplies, food, water, electricity and fuel” to the enclave, according to Wafa. Meanwhile, Palestinian officials in Gaza accused Israel of launching an air strike on a refugee camp that they said killed dozens of people. Gaza health officials say 9,770 people have been killed in the war that was unleashed by Israel in response to Hamas’s attack on October 7. That assault killed 1,400 people, according to Israeli officials, and more than 240 others were taken hostage. After an aerial bombardment of Gaza, Israel Defense Forces entered the enclave late last month and have encircled Gaza City, Hamas’s main base, in the northern part of the strip. IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said the Israeli military had formed a line across the enclave and were holding it. “Now there is north Gaza and south Gaza,” he said, indicating that the former was cut off from the latter.  He insisted the IDF had created a corridor to allow civilians to move from northern Gaza and Gaza City to the south of the strip,

Aid agencies have expressed concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, which is experiencing a dire shortage of food, drinking water, medicines and fuel. Paltel, the Palestinian telecoms company, said on Sunday that all services in the strip had been cut. Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to crush Hamas and flatly ruled out even a temporary ceasefire until all hostages are released. The US is also against a ceasefire, saying it would merely allow Hamas to regroup and launch further attacks. Blinken has instead proposed localised “humanitarian pauses” that would make it easier to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza and get foreign nationals out. He told Abbas the US was committed to moving aid in and restoring essential services, according to a readout from a state department spokesperson. The talks come as US president Joe Biden’s administration turns its attention to what will happen to Gaza and who will run it if Israel achieves its war aim of dismantling Hamas. One idea being discussed in Washington is a possible interim government run by Arab states or the UN before “an effective and revitalised PA” takes over governance. But the PA, which exercises limited self-rule in parts of the West Bank, is seen by many Palestinians as weak and corrupt, and lacking the necessary credibility to govern Gaza. Despite that, Blinken was keen to convey to Abbas that the US wanted to see a just solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict once the war was over.

The secretary also expressed the commitment of the US to working towards the realisation of the Palestinians’ legitimate aspirations for the establishment of a Palestinian state,” the state department spokesperson said. Hours before Blinken arrived in Ramallah, Wafa said Israeli warplanes had attacked Gaza’s Al-Maghazi refugee camp. Ashraf al-Qudra, a spokesperson for the health ministry in Gaza, said more than 30 people had been killed. The IDF did not immediately comment. Meanwhile, four civilians were killed in an Israeli strike on a car in southern Lebanon on Sunday, Lebanon’s state news agency NNA reported, including three children. Journalist Samir Ayoub, whose sister and her grandchildren were killed in the strike, told Al Mayadeen TV that “just ordinary citizens” were in the car. Following the strike, Hizbollah, the Iran-backed militant group that controls southern Lebanon, said it had targeted Kiryat Shmona in northern Israel with Katyusha rockets. “The Islamic Resistance affirms that it will never tolerate attacks on civilians and its response will be firm and strong,” Hizbollah said. Hagari did not directly address the attack, saying only that the Israeli military had “hit Hizbollah terror targets in south Lebanon, in response to anti-tank missiles that killed an Israeli civilian”. It comes after Hizbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel on Friday against harming Lebanese civilians. Western and Arab diplomats have for weeks been warning the Israel-Hamas conflict risks triggering a broader war in the region, and are particularly concerned about Hizbollah.  After meeting with Iraqi prime minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani, Blinken said he was sending a “very clear message”, particularly to groups backed by Iran, not to take advantage of the war by escalating the conflict or targeting US military personnel. “The threats coming from the militia that are aligned with Iran are totally unacceptable,” he added.

Kohli vs Tendulkar: A comparison of their 49 ODI hundreds

Virat Kohli recently equaled Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 One Day International (ODI) centuries. While Kohli achieved this milestone in a relatively shorter period of time, there are several interesting comparisons to be made between their careers and achievements:

  1. Time to Reach 49 Centuries: Kohli reached 49 centuries in 15 years, whereas Tendulkar's ODI career spanned 22 years. Kohli achieved this milestone more quickly.

  2. Century Scoring Frequency: Kohli has scored a century every 5.65 innings on average, while Tendulkar had one every 9.22 innings. Despite this difference, when compared to the averages in their respective eras, their century-scoring frequency is similar.

  3. Total Centuries: Tendulkar scored 237 centuries in 463 ODIs, which is one century every 1.96 matches. Kohli, on the other hand, scored 229 centuries in 289 games, which translates to 1.26 matches per hundred. In matches where Tendulkar played, there were 131 centuries from Indian batters, while Kohli contributed 137 centuries.

  4. Centuries in Chases: Kohli has 27 centuries in ODI chases, with 23 coming in wins. Tendulkar had 17 centuries while chasing, with only three ending in defeats. Tendulkar leads in scoring centuries while batting first, with 32 against Kohli's 22.

  5. Win Percentage Impact: The increase in India's win percentage over the last 15 years has influenced the results of their centuries. India won 50.54% of matches with Tendulkar and 61.59% with Kohli in the XI. As a result, Tendulkar had 33 centuries in wins, while Kohli has 41.

  6. Centuries in Different Venues: Tendulkar scored 20 centuries at home, while Kohli has 23 out of 49 in India. However, Kohli scored 21 centuries in away games, while Tendulkar had only 12. This is partly due to the decrease in the number of ODI tournaments at neutral venues during Kohli's career.

  7. Bilateral Series vs. Multilateral Tournaments: Kohli has played about two-thirds of his ODI matches in bilateral series, while Tendulkar played about 40% in such series. Kohli has scored ODI centuries in nine different countries, while Tendulkar played ODIs in 16 countries and scored hundreds in 12. The number of venues where they scored centuries is similar, with Tendulkar achieving this feat at 34 grounds and Kohli at 32 venues.

  8. Centuries Against Different Teams: Tendulkar had centuries against 11 different teams, with 44 coming against nine full-member nations and five against associate teams. Kohli has never scored a century against an associate nation, as he had limited opportunities to play them. All of Kohli's 49 centuries are against the top nine full-member countries.

  9. Number of Centuries Against Specific Teams: Tendulkar had five or more centuries against six teams, with nine centuries against Australia being the most. Kohli scored the most ODI centuries (10) against Sri Lanka and has five or more centuries against six different countries.

  10. Performance When Scoring Centuries: Tendulkar scored 32 centuries when he was the lone centurion in the game, while Kohli has 22 such instances. There were nine occasions when an Indian batter scored a century in the same match as Tendulkar, and Kohli had 13 such instances. Tendulkar scored a century when no other Indian batter managed a fifty nine times, with five of them in completed innings. Kohli did this on eight occasions, with six in completed innings. The two batsmen are level with six centuries each when India was bowled out in an inning.

These comparisons highlight the remarkable achievements of both Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar in the world of ODI cricket, with Kohli's career characterized by rapid century-scoring and a significant impact on India's win percentage.

New Zealand vs Pakistan: ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match preview

Pakistan most likely need to beat New Zealand to keep alive their hopes of reaching the Cricket World Cup semifinals.

The comeback kings face the early contenders on the slide when Pakistan take on New Zealand in Bengaluru on Saturday in the Cricket World Cup.

Pakistan, renowned as dangerous animals when caged, stormed to a seven-wicket win against Bangladesh in Kolkata on Tuesday to end a four-match losing streak.

The Kiwis, defeated finalists in 2019, won their first four games but have now lost three on the bounce, including a humbling defeat by South Africa on Wednesday.

The run has seen them slip to fourth spot, two places and two points above Pakistan, in the final qualifying sport for the semifinals

“We won’t make it bigger than what it is,” New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell said, instead choosing to look ahead to the match against Pakistan.

“It’s another two points for this tournament, which is important for us in the big scheme of things, but we’ll keep playing like Black Caps do, and I’m sure we’ll come a long way to winning the game.”

Pakistan are sixth in the table, two points behind Afghanistan in fifth. A win for Pakistan would take them level with the Kiwis with one game to play.

Sri Lanka await New Zealand in Bengaluru next Thursday while Pakistan face England in Kolkata next Saturday.

A defeat would put the Kiwis out of reach for Pakistan although third-placed Australia could still be caught as they also sit on eight points. They, however, have a game in hand on the two teams immediately below them.

“I’ll be brutally honest – I don’t think we’ve played to our full potential in this tournament yet,” Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur said. “I thought the Bangladesh game was the first game where we actually put a complete game together.”

“We batted beautifully, bowled beautifully and fielded beautifully, which in all the other games we’ve done one or two disciplines OK. But our other disciplines let us down.

“I’d like to say we’re peaking, … but we found our best game against Bangladesh, and I just hope that’s not too late for us.”
